I'm experiencing this bug as well. I upgraded to 10.04 Alpha3 from Karmic too. I have all the updates for lucid right now. I can confirm that at this time empathy will not connect, or even allow you to create either a yahoo, icq or aol. It was working for me previously but after the last update from the empathy ppa, it said there was an error with my yahoo and aol accounts. so i deleted the accounts and when i tried to remake them, it wouldnt give me the option to use these protocols. at time time Empathy only allows me to create: Jabber Googletalk People Nearby IRC MSN thats it. I dont know if its related, but empathy used to show up in the envelope icon in Karmic's system tray. you could also launch empathy from there if it wasnt already running. i upgraded to the new brasero 2.27.5-0ubuntu1 today but it did not resolve the problem.
