I have exactly same problem as described. After upgrading to 14.04 and mounting
samba. Nautilus freeze and. So work with 14.04 is not possible so. I
reinstaled 12.04. I tried before to change some settings in fstab.
I thought reason is in fstab so I I added to mountpoint:
,_netdev,iocharset=utf8,
//bla/bla/PISARNAcifs
username=asa,_netdev,auto,user,uid=grh,gid=grh,iocharset=utf8, 0 0
but it is no effect . There is some delay or loop in smb conection itself.
Interesting is, that if you have one window in nautilus
already opened delay is shorter.
