[Bug 654938] Re: Evolution 2.30.3-1ubuntu6 crashes on startup in Maverick

2010-11-03 Thread runout
i just figured out following about this crash:

if only evolution-plugins is installed, it crashes after checking the mailboxes
if evolution-plugins + evolution-mapi is installed, it does _not_ crash.

i do _not_ use any mapi/exchange boxes,...

so i'm not sure if its the same bug as reported originally or if its
related.

shall i open a new bugreport for this?

[Bug 670719] [NEW] Evolution bbdb plugin crash on startup

2010-11-03 Thread runout
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Ubuntu 10.10 64bit
Evolution 2.30.3-1

Evolution crashes on startup when evolution-plugins package is installed.
i could track it down to be the bbdb plugin which is included in the
evolution-plugins package.

when i remove the related .so file, evolution is staring without problems:
/usr/lib/evolution/2.30/plugins/liborg-gnome-evolution-bbdb.so

i found following bugreport for debian:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=541410

[Bug 661467] Re: evolution shows only html, no plain text

2010-11-03 Thread runout
seems to be related to following bug, because i disabled the evolution-plugins
package.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/670719

this means: maybe the bug can be closed
if evolution-plugins package is installed the plain text mode is available
again.
it was just because of evolution was crashing on startup when the plugins are
installed.
now, since installing the plugins again and disabling bbdb by removing the .so
file
i'm able to run evolution with the rest of the plugins.

maybe an option (menu) to create the folders.db from scratch would help.
or this could be offered if evolution comes up with this error message.

for me, this bug could have been caused by an update which did something with
the database image but i do not have any ideas what it was.
or a poblem of the harddisk, unclean shutdown,...

evolution does not crash anymore.
maybe because i moved/deleted some mails per webmail (squirrelmail)
i still have the issue with the database disk image is malformed

maybe the problem is related to a special email in the box, because i

2009-04-26 Thread runout
libavcodec1d is still installed after removing gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg and
it makes no problems.

removing libavcodec1d also removes openmovieeditor

and after removing it there is no difference on starting gnome-settings-
daemon. same error.

2009-04-24 Thread runout
looks like the gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (0.10.6.2-1ubuntu2) package is
broken in jaunty. after uninstall of this package everything works fine.

install it again and gnome-settings-daemon, pidgin,... doesn't work
again.

2009-04-24 Thread runout
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-settings-daemon

after upgrading intrepid to jaunty i had a problem starting
gnome-settings-daemon.
also i had a error message on starting System-Preferences-Appereance.

on starting gnome-settings-daemon in the terminal:
:~$ gnome-settings-daemon --no-daemon --debug
...
ERROR: Caught a segmentation fault while loading plugin file:
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so

version of gstreamer:
:~$ apt-cache policy gstreamer0.10-plugins-base

  Version table:
 *** 0.10.22-5 0
500 http://at.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages

could not start pidgin. maybe some other applications too.

what i did for a workaround:
uninstall gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg (0.10.6.2-1ubuntu2)

** Affects: gnome-settings-daemon (Ubuntu)
