[Bug 445668] [NEW] Rhythmbox not able to rip audio CD to default format

2009-10-07 Thread samcan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I'm running Ubuntu 9.10, and when trying to rip an audio CD in
Rhythmbox, I get the following error message: Error transferring
track...unable to locate encoding profile for mime-type. I checked
Rhythmbox's preferences, and the default profile is FLAC! There is no
OGG option at all. The CD quality, lossy option is MP2.

I'm not sure what packages I need to install to get this running. I have
flac, libflac++6 and libflac8 installed, but it still does not want to
rip the audio. How should I add the OGG profile, or what software do I
need to install to get FLAC working?

Thank you.

[Bug 263146] Re: gvfs-fuse-daemon using 100MB of memory

2008-09-01 Thread samcan
I restarted the computer to give a clean slate, and checked to see how
many processes were running. There was only 1 gvfs-fuse-daemon. Then, I
proceeded to run down the list of things I remembered doing with my
computer:

*I started Firefox; still only 1 process.
*I started Synaptic, as I had been using it before I restarted, and still only
1 process. I installed a package, and there was still only 1 process.
*I started AbiWord 2.6.x series, which I had installed from a Launchpad PPA. I
checked again, and still only 1 process.
*I started Gnumeric, which I installed from the repositories, and still only 1
process.
*I then tested a screensaver preview; still only 1 process.

To be honest, I cannot figure out how to reproduce this bug. I will keep
an eye on it, and if I find the problem again, I'll respond to this
thread, but for now, there is only 1 process.

Thanks!

[Bug 263146] [NEW] gvfs-fuse-daemon using 100MB of memory

2008-08-30 Thread samcan
Public bug reported:

While playing around with gmemusage, I discovered that there were four
gvfs-fuse-daemon processes running, using approximately 100MB of memory.
As my computer only has 312MB physical memory, 100MB is quite a big
deal.

When I ran ps ax | grep gvfs-fuse-daemon, I got the following output:

 3680 ?Ss 0:00 /usr/lib/gvfs//gvfs-fuse-daemon /home/samcan/.gvfs
 3888 ?Ssl0:00 /usr/lib/gvfs//gvfs-fuse-daemon /home/samcan/.gvfs
 5130 pts/0S+ 0:00 grep gvfs-fuse-daemon
 5483 ?Ss 0:00 /usr/lib/gvfs//gvfs-fuse-daemon /home/samcan/.gvfs
12625 ?Ss 0:00 /usr/lib/gvfs//gvfs-fuse-daemon /home/samcan/.gvfs

Do I need to be running all four of these processes? Is this actually a
bug, or is this intended behavior?

The machine runs 8.04.1, installed last night, with additional
applications and updates installed today. I do not know when this
behavior started.

I believe there is. . .the portion of the log pertaining to Nautilus
follows (Process 6141 is Nautilus):

CODE

Also, the last line was not broken, the text box forced word wrap.

[Bug 215730] [NEW] Nautilus, Apport does not appear

2008-04-11 Thread samcan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

In Nautilus, I tried to report a bug by clicking Help - Report a
Problem. Apport does not appear. I have successfully reported bugs using
Apport before, but in different applications. Apport-cli works, as this
is what I used to initiate this bug report.

I am using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy development branch (installed beta, and done
system updates from that).
