[Bug 2050865] Re: GNOME Wayland session crashes with libmutter:ERROR:../src/core/window.c:...:meta_window_get_work_area_for_logical_monitor: assertion failed: (logical_monitor)
Hey Daniel, I stopped having the crashes when I self-built debs for 46.0-1ubuntu9 + https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/merge_requests/3691 patch, and I've later used the debs you linked. However, I have Ubuntu's tiling extension disabled (had crashes with 46.0-1ubuntu9 even with it disabled) because I use gTile and Ubuntu's extension does weird things, like the preview rectangles not disappearing after moving a window. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2050865 Title: GNOME Wayland session crashes with libmutter:ERROR:../src/core/window.c:...:meta_window_get_work_area_for_logical_monitor: assertion failed: (logical_monitor) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell-extension-tiling-assistant/+bug/2050865/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I found a workaround for this: to define the KRB5CCNAME environment variable at /etc/environment.d/91kerberos.conf In my case, I store the cache file at ~/kerberos, so I set the content of that file to: KRB5CCNAME=${HOME}/kerberos/krb5cc_${LOGNAME} So, if my username is "username", this results in the environment variable set to /home/username/kerberos/krb5cc_username After doing this, the tickets are preserved between reboots. [Bug 1920690] [NEW] File chooser dialog cause flatpak applications to hang in KDE
Public bug reported: Flatpak seems to have serious issues on kubuntu 20.04, at least with some applications that immediately hang when a file dialog is shown. AFAIK, if you launch a gnome session, and then you return to the ubuntu session, you shouldn't lost your configuration. So maybe you can do a test in the gnome shell session to check if the patch works, thus allowing canonical to integrate it, but use the ubuntu session for your day-to-day work. Re: [Bug 1883174] Re: Some desktop icons disappear
Yes, I understand. But it seems that the ubuntu session blocks new versions from extensions.gnome.org. AFAIK, they did that to avoid a new version from the repository to overwrite the official, tested one. So it seems that you will need to use the gnome shell session instead. But the other extensions will work in both sessions, at most you will only have to enable them again. El 30/9/20 a las 20:36, John Hoff escribió: > I am not sure I am following. Re: [Bug 1883174] Re: Some desktop icons disappear
Oh, ok... Now I understand. You simply can't install the official desktop icons in the Ubuntu session. You must install gnome-session, choose gnome shell session instead of Ubuntu session when logging, and there you can use the extensions. Of course, you may want to also install dash-to-dock, that gives you the left dock, and kstatusNotifier. @h23 if you are seeing the same behaviour in the terminal the Nautilus is not the problem. Your USB is write protected or your computer is picking it up like that for some reason. You can insert the USB Stick and then run: dmesg | tail To see the system log. There you can see if the write protection is turned on. [Bug 1635023] Re: Regression: quotas prevent yakkety from booting (boots once every ~4 attempts)
Sorry, I'm not understanding your comment. What I understood is that the systemd developers said "It is not our responsibility if ubuntu does not boot, this is not a systemd bug! In fact, the issue in booting is caused by some quota related units, shipped by Ubuntu, that are not part of systemd". Then, I saw that the faulty systemd units are shipped with the "quota" package, just as you say. Yet, the upstream quota package does not contain these units. The systemd quota related units and scripts are a downstream ubuntu (maybe from debian) addition (in fact, they live in the debian dir of the package). This is why I was reporting that the systemd developers suggest that this is a downstream bug (a bug in the Ubuntu distro), not an upstream bug (a bug in systemd 231). I never implied that ubuntu forgot to ship some units. I'm only saying that the quota units shipped with ubuntu evidently mistake something, because when they are masked the system boots, otherwise it doesn't. Possibly, the issue is only triggered if one has quotas+lvm2+fake or soft raid. This may explain why the mistake got unnoticed when it slipped in. I suppose that this bug should be fixed by the maintainers of the quota package in ubuntu, possibly with the help of the systemd maintainers. ** Package changed: systemd (Ubuntu) => quota (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635023 Title: Regression: quotas prevent yakkety from booting (boots once every ~4 attempts) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1635023/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1635023] Re: Regression: yakkety does not boot (boots once every ~4 attempts)
Got it! Sort of... Misabling quotas make the system boot reliably. No clue why. It may not be a race, rather the fact that the initial quota check is supposed to happen only in certain cases. No idea. Debugging boot with systemd is beyond my expertise. Masking the systemd quota.service (the initial quota check) seems to be sufficient to enable a reliable boot. Still I see failures on shutdown related to the disabling of the stuff in fstab. ** Bug watch added: github.com/systemd/systemd/issues #4486 https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/4486 ** Also affects: systemd via https://github.com/systemd/systemd/issues/4486 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Summary changed: - Regression: yakkety does not boot (boots once every ~4 attempts) + Regression: quotas prevent yakkety from booting (boots once every ~4 attempts) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to systemd in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635023 Title: Regression: quotas prevent yakkety from booting (boots once every ~4 attempts) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/systemd/+bug/1635023/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1635023] [NEW] yakkkety boot is erratic
Public bug reported: After an upgrade from xenial to yakkety, the system does not boot reliably. Only 1 boot over 3-4 seems to succeed. Quite often, the system seems to hang during boot and then drops into an emergency prompt. Pressing esc during the boot to show what is going on reveals that there are processes waiting for the disks to become ready. This is likely to be related to the specific system configuration, with a raid array of two disks managed by dmraid (it is an intel fake raid) and lvm2 on top of it. Most stuff is on it in logical disks, but for the boot partition that is on a fast ssd, and the root of the filesystem that is on lvm2 with a physical volume spanning the rest of the ssd. The very same configuration worked just fine on xenial. To make the matter worse, it is impossible to boot in "recovery mode" to get a root prompt, because after you login as root something suddenly times out and the screen gets messed up (not a graphics card issue, but pieces of messages popping out here and there, the recovery mode menu suddenly reappearing, etc. Please give this bug appropriately high priority, because it prevents servers from coming up after power failures. [Bug 1330430] Re: apparmor profile needs review/improvement
Other suffixes are affected besides .pdf. I've just spotted some incidents in my logs involving denied read attempts on .epsi, .ps2 and suffixless application/postscript files. Since .epsi is listed as valid in /etc/mime.types I've now added the following to /etc/apparmor.d/local/usr.bin.evince and verified that it allowed .epsi files to be opened: /**.[eE][pP][sS][fFiI23] rw, However, one could argue that file types can and should be detected based on the file's content, not on its name. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330430 Title: apparmor profile needs review/improvement To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/1330430/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1344810] [NEW] etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince should allow /run/user/*/gvfs-metadata/**
Public bug reported: /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince has a line @{HOME}/.local/share/gvfs-metadata/** l, However, it is possible (seen on trusty) for session state files to be stored under /run/user/uid/ instead of ~/.local/share/ . * Sebastien Bacher [2014-01-08 16:57:52 -]: Thanks for your bug report. Could you add an example for such dvi file? I cen try and construct one that reproduces the issue on my system, but there is no guarantee that the same choice of font will reproduce the problem somewhere else: that depends on the history of the individual system (specifically, on whether the pk files for the font in question have already been generated and cached).
