[Bug 486114] Re: Brasero Disc Burner. The disc in CD/DVD Drive cannot be ejected. An unknown error occured
I'm getting this issue when attempting to burn an audio CD. Brasero loads the playlist fine, but when I go to burn a disc it kicks the The disc in CD/DVD Drive cannot be ejected. [Bug 275623] Re: Audio fails in Intrepid: GStreamer resource error
Aplay does indeed work correctly. This command: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ aplay /usr/share/sounds/ekiga/busytone.wav Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/ekiga/busytone.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono produces the expected sound. gstreamer-properties is currently set to PulseAudio Sound Server. Re: [Bug 67652] Re: ekiga is unusably slow
i'll see if i can take some time this week or next and upgrade this machine to gutsy. can also test w/o the stun server if you can tell me how to turn if off. it's also worth noting that a similar installation of Feisty on top of a Sun Ultra 20 exhibits no such symptoms. just a quick clarification: i think i'm all set with regard to the network settings - startup time remains a problem. just clocked it at 6 minutes to startup. -- ekiga is unusably slow https://launchpad.net/bugs/67652 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 61381] Re: gnome-settings-daemon crashes at login
summary: similar problem here. cannot start GNOME or Beryl sessions on the machines, splash screen hangs on Metacity. Failsafe GNOME will boot, but kicks the above warning: first error: Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help) if i try to launch Sound preferences, i get a second error: second error: Unable to start the settings manager 'gnome-settings-daemon'. Without the GNOME settings manager running, some preferences may not take effect. This could indicate a problem with Bonobo, or a non-GNOME (e.g. KDE) settings manager may already be active and conflicting with the GNOME settings manager. if i then try to run gnome-settings-daemon in the console, i get a third error: third error: (gnome-settings-daemon:6669): GSwitchIt-WARNING **: Unable to connect to dbus: Unable to determine the address of the message bus (try 'man dbus-launch' and 'man dbus-daemon' for help) ** (gnome-settings-daemon:6669): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_connection_register_g_object: assertion `connection != NULL' failed ** (gnome-settings-daemon:6669): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_proxy_new_for_name: assertion `connection != NULL' failed ** (gnome-settings-daemon:6669): CRITICAL **: dbus_g_proxy_call: assertion `DBUS_IS_G_PROXY (proxy)' failed ** (bug-buddy:6675): WARNING **: Couldn't load icon for Open Folder solutions tried so far: 1. apt-get --reinstall install dbus beryl metacity (no effect) 2. commenting out IPv6 lines in host file (no effect) 3. disabling ESD in sound settings (no effect) 4. checked /etc/network/interfaces (nothing there that shouldn't be) platform: edgy, with beryl installed and running successfully for several days (until this error) versions: dbus - 0.93-0ubuntu3 metacity - 2.16.3-0ubuntu beryl - 0.1..2~0be caused by: unclear. have been running, as mentioned, beryl but to date had virtually no problems - and none seemingly related to this. error occured after a fresh reboot with no new packages installed (AFAIK). looks to me like everything traces back to dbus, but i'm no expert. any help appreciated. i'm functional in GNOME Failsafe, but not loving it. -- gnome-settings-daemon crashes at login https://launchpad.net/bugs/61381 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 67195] Re: Gaim 2.0 unusably slow in Edgy
don't know if it helps, but i've had issues with Evolution Data Server 1.8. it occasionally churns out of control, sucking up lots of cycles and memory and has to be killed. Ekiga experiences similar startup issues, and i understand it's also integrated with EDS. don't know if that's the problem, but thought it was worth passing along. -- Gaim 2.0 unusably slow in Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/67195 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 67652] ekiga is unusably slow
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ekiga i've been trying out Ekiga lately on my Edgy installation, and it's unusably slow. i just clocked time to register at 2 minutes, 2 seconds. that's versus about 6 seconds for X-Lite to load and register. i'm wondering if the Evolution Data Server 1.8 shipping with Edgy has anything to do with this. as referenced in bug 67195, GAIM was also unusably slow until i killed the Evolution Data Integration plugin, at which point performance turned to normal. as i understand it, Ekiga does include an EDS dependency. ** Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- ekiga is unusably slow https://launchpad.net/bugs/67652 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gaim since installing Edgy, Gaim's load time has been almost unusably - taking several minutes, no hyperbole - to load four accounts (Jabber, Gmail/Jabber, AIM IRC). the Buddy List icon will appear and be unresponsive for three to four minutes before finally loading, whether at boot or in session. in case it's related, i do have the guifications plugin installed. ** Affects: gaim (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Gaim 2.0 unusably slow in Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/67195 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 67195] Re: Gaim 2.0 unusably slow in Edgy
thanks for responding. the time required to render the client, unfortunately, far exceeds the time required to connect. in more detail: on relatively comparable hardware, using Dapper's GAIM, I can log into the exact same 4 accounts in just under 18 seconds. on Edgy, as you can see from the attached screenshot - log in times to the GAIM client are exceeding 6 and a half minutes. ** Attachment added: screenshot of GAIM performance problem http://librarian.launchpad.net/4903859/Gaim_Slow.png -- Gaim 2.0 unusably slow in Edgy https://launchpad.net/bugs/67195 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
