[Bug 1175230] [NEW] Split-screen (F3) missing in Nautilus since 13.04
Public bug reported: Since 13.04, the F3 key to split the screen in Nautilus doesn't work. I understand this was removed because it didn't work with touch screens, but I (and many others) do not use touch screens, and I miss the functionality, which was quick and easy and useful. Public bug reported: I was browsing the images in /usr/share/backgrounds. All show a thumbnail in Nautilus. [Bug 984356] [NEW] Clicking symlink to a non-mounted disk gives misleading error message
Public bug reported: If you have a symlink to a disk that is not auto-mounted, then clicking on it gives an error message like "The Link "My Pictures" is Broken. Move it to the Rubbish Bin? This link cannot be used, because its target "/media/Acer/Users/Steven/Pictures/My Pictures" doesn't exist." For a beginner this message is startling, and suggesting that it should be deleted worrying, and not particularly helpful. The best option from a usability point of view would be to mount the disk, but I bet that's hard to do. Second best, do not offer to delete it, and say something along the lines of "The file or directory that "My Pictures" links to (/media/Acer/Users/Steven/Pictures/My Pictures) is not currently available. You should check that the disk is mounted." *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 923823 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/923823 Well, why does one search for a file? I knew it was in there somewhere, I knew approximately what it was called, and I wanted to find it. So I used the Nautilus Go>Search for files (ctrl-F) functionality. But I also wanted to know *where* it was stored, since I needed other files from the same location. In the end I had to resort to the 'find' command in the shell, but that shouldn't have to be necessary, Nautilus could provide the information easily. When you say "all is fine" do you mean they have added a method to go to the enclosing directory, or that the field in the properties box is no longer shortened? Natty is *much* worse for dual screens. Putting screens above each other doesn't work at all for me (one of the screens gets garbled). Putting them next to each other puts the Unity bar in the wrong place in both cases, one slightly worse positioned than the other. Because of this it is hard to see if this particular bug is replicated there. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/641641 Title: Lose netbook main menu if screen is repositioned To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-center/+bug/641641/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 752696] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()
I was trying to burn a CD of Natty. I inserted a blank CD, and answered the popup that I wanted to burn a CD. I searched for the iso, copied it to the blank CD, and clicked on 'burn'. It asked if I wanted to burn the contents of the iso or burn it as a file. I answered with 'contents', and it crashed. This was repeatable. However, if instead I first searched for the iso, right clicked and selected 'Burn with brasero', it worked fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to brasero in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/752696 Title: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch() -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 641641] [NEW] Lose netbook main menu if screen is repositioned
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center This is with 10.4 netbook remix. I attached an external monitor, and positioned the laptop screen to the bottom left of the external screen. It was no longer possible to get to the main Ubuntu menu as a result, which was presumably still positioned to the top left. Consequently I couldn't restart the display configure program to reposition the laptop display back to its old position, nor do anything else.
