Thanks for the reply, however I no longer own this laptop. Someone decided
it would serve him or her better than me without consulting me so I can no
longer try and replicate the bug.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test
it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running
apport-collect bug # and any other logs that are relevant for this
particular issue.

Title:
Screen freezes after display dims while playing a movie
Status in “totem” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Binary package hint: totem
While on battery power, my laptop (Acer AS 1810T) is set to dim the
screen when idle for 10 minutes. During play of a movie in fullscreen, the
system (11.04) dims the display as it should, but the second time it dims,
the screen freezes. tty1-6 are still accessible. Killing totem from the
console at tty1 does not work. Restarting the X-server (ctrl-alt delete)
fixes this.
totem version 2.32.0-0ubuntu10
