I have this issue sometimes. Tray icons appear floating in their own window. I don't use evolution. ps -ef | grep evolution | grep -v grep returns nothing. So don't think it is related. When the problem occurs (after a logout to GDM and back in) I need to kill amarok and then do /usr/bin/kdeinit. Yes for me it always happens (every time) after a re-login.
