2007-08-27 Thread komyg
You should add yourself to the group "voice", that I think was created
by Ekiga when you installed it.

Open a shell and type:

sudo adduser voice

That should add your user to the system group "voice".

If you didin't install Ekiga using apt-get than perchaps that group
doesn't exists and you will have to manually do something about it.

Good luck,
Komyg

[Bug 120251] Re: "security check failed"

2007-07-26 Thread komyg
Hi, I've been having the same problem with Ekiga, but I found a way to
solve it for me.

When I tryed to call another person with Ekiga I got a "Security Check
Failed" message everytime. So I tryed to start Ekiga from a root user:

xhost +
su
ekiga

and I could make calls just fine.

After this I thought the problem would be with the system groups, Ekiga
has probably created a group that my user doesn't has access to. Then I
added my user to the group Voice and everything worked fine.

Hope this helps,
Felipe

Hi, I've been having the same problem with Ekiga, but I found a way to
solve it for me.

When I tryed to call another person with Ekiga I got a "Security Check
Failed" message everytime. So I tryed to start Ekiga from a root user:

After this I thought the problem would be with the system groups, Ekiga

added my user to the group Voice and everything worked fine.

Hope this helps,

You should add yourself to the group "voice", that I think was created
by Ekiga when you installed it.

Open a shell and type:

sudo adduser voice

That should add your user to the system group "voice".

If you didin't install Ekiga using apt-get than perchaps that group
doesn't exists and you will have to manually do something about it.

Good luck,

I apologize for the too brief bug report. Here is more info:

1. Installed ekiga softphone on Dell Opt GX1 with Ubunto 7.04.

2. Created my account for ekiga.

3. Inital run of software started with no problems or error messages.

4. Test my sound settings on headset - OK

5. called sip:[EMAIL PROTECTED] for echo test.

6. received the message "security check failed" at bottom

This error was also reported on 5/20 by Matt89 and a resolved status.
However, there is no text displayed in the answer section. Perhaps his
solution is my solution.

Thanks,

Don C.

Thanks,

Don C.

Hope this helps,
Felipe
