I don't have desktop-effects since I removed it to install compiz fusion. I tried reverting back to metacity and sure enough it wasn't taking pictures. Compiz must be the culpret. In fact it was, all I had to do was go in to ccsm General Commands Disable Screenshot key bindings. And now it isnt taking pictures.
