I have tried this on Totem running on Hardy Heron 32 bit. I have kept Totem open and playing movies for about 4 hours and the memory leak does not occur. More like a gstreamer issue, but, the issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. I tried using Valgrind as you suggested, but Totem became horrendously slow when Valgrind was logging it, and as a result I could not replicate the memory leak.
