Additional information: this bug does not affect all the layout switching options. I am experiencing exactly the same issue as Dagfinn Ilmari Mannsåker. How can I see my XKB rules? What other information can I provide that could be helpful? One additional small observation: Under gutsy, switching worked by pressing and holding the right Alt key (Alt Gr) and subsequently pressing the left Alt key. Under hardy, this is reversed, i.e. I need to press and hold the left Alt key, then press the right Alt key. I'm seeing a slight variation on this in Hardy: I can't swtich away from the first configured layout using the keyboard shortcut. If I click the keyboard indicator applet to switch to the second layout, cycling further through the list using the keyboard shortcut works fine until I reach the first layout again (tested with two, three and four layouts).
