Public bug reported: Ubuntu package version: 3.22.0-1ubuntu1 Desktop environment: Unity
No menubar appears either within the program window or on the global menu when ran with super-user permissions via gksu/sudo. Bug is not present when ran as a normal user. Bug is also not present when logging in to the desktop session as 'root' (NOT recommended). Similar to the bug reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1518516 ,but ONLY affects gedit when used with sudo/gksu. [[Related rant: Does anyone even like this new, ugly, bug-riddled gedit interface? Like everyone else that I've seen discuss the topic, I miss the "classic" gedit interface. It looked better and was stable and resilient. This new interface looks awkward and is causing issues in many DEs, including its native GNOME.]] ** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ubuntu yakkety ** Attachment added: "Bug shown using sudo - gksu similar, but with no terminal output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654869/+attachment/4801648/+files/sudo-gedit-menu-bug.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1654869 Title: No menubar for gedit when ran as sudo To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gedit/+bug/1654869/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
