Lucas - yes, that's what windows does, last I checked (windows 2000). Mac OS X, last I checked (a bit more recently) just creates a file on the desktop. FWIW, I'd prefer the MAC-esque always save in this folder without prompting approach... Pedro - yes, I find the dialog handy too, but it takes some adjusting to coming from a mac or windows environment. I think it would make sense to have a default directory instead of a checkbox. The whole point is that for people who'd find this handy, you shouldn't pop up any dialog box at all. Windows and Macintosh do it this way, FWIW.
