I did interpret "I have disabled Ubuntu from requiring my password after
the screen turns off" as automatic login/no password. Maybe that's
incorrect.

So a few questions:

1. Does your login have a password and/or is it configured for automatic
login?

2. Is the dock ("taskbar") visible on the "landing page"?

3. Does re-locking (Super+L) and re-unlocking the system get around the
problem?

4. Please run 'apport-collect 1809517' to send us more information about
the system.

I'm not completely sure how its the same. It is related to the login 
from suspended but that's about it. That's like saying a flat tire is 
the same as bad wheel bearings on a vehicle because they're both on the 
wheel.
