This is fixed in karmic, but I nominated it for jaunty. The importance of this bug is low, but the patch ([1]) is only a few lines. I'm seeing this too. I can't seem to reproduce it on demand, but sometimes the tab will detach. I don't select "Detach Tab" from the menu, and I do not have a keyboard shortcut defined for the action.
