[Bug 1935734] Re: nautilus can't open folder as root
I can confirm that I am experiencing this issue now with my Ubuntu Hirsute installation in VirtualBox. I just ran all package updates it after not using this VM for a while. After this I noticed it, because I wanted to do root access actions using GNOME Nautilus. Not so long ago I had this same issue under XFCE on Arch Linux too, but that one got eventually fixed by updates, most likely including GVFS or something related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935734 Title: nautilus can't open folder as root To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1935734/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1935734] Re: nautilus can't open folder as root
It is the extension nautilus-admin which doesn't work any more. You can right-click on a folder and choose "Open as Administrator". Or a file and "Edit as Administrator".

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1935734 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. (I realize you know this, but it fills details in the bug report, provides the ISO date (ie. daily) etc) Some additional details (explanation) may also be handy, eg. I had the current Ubuntu daily running on the box besides me, and used `sudo nautilus` to open a session & didn't encounter any issues. It maybe I didn't do what you did, but few details were provided. (I'm also running on a box used for QA-test installs so no real data files to explore) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1935734 Title: nautilus can't open folder as root To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1935734/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
