[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Could you try using the current versions? Seems to work correctly on current hardy now ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low Assignee: (unassigned) = Ubuntu Desktop Bugs (desktop-bugs) -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Yes, it seems to be fixed. At least, I can no longer duplicate the problem running my old script. -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
There is no .crash file. There is a core dump, which I would gladly attach if I could find it. -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
I can add more information, which might allow others to duplicate the crash. I had a .desktop file in ~/Desktop (left over from some third party software installation) which was created by root and which I had permission neither to read nor write. Removing the file or changing the permissions stopped nautilus crashing. -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Switched back to new because no .crash file was generated; and I was unable to open a new bug report as advised above. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid = New -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Please try to obtain a backtrace http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the file to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem. ** Changed in: nautilus (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
I attach the backtrace (I'm not sure how much use it is); also see the file I attached above. I also attach a script which will hopefully reproduce the crash on another system. ** Attachment added: gdb-nautilus.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12185136/gdb-nautilus.txt -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 195393] Re: nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk()
Possibly this is a duplicate of #172916; the same result obtained in a different way. I attach a new backtrace with nautilus-dbgsym libglib2.0-0-dbgsym libgtk2.0-0-dbgsym libgnomevfs2-0-dbg and libgnomeui-0-dbgsym installed; but still there are some debug packages missing. ** Attachment added: backtrace http://launchpadlibrarian.net/12197842/gdb-nautilus.txt -- nautilus crashing opening desktop: glibc detected in munmap_chunk() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/195393 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
