Removing the keyboard shortcut is not a solution. If the keyboard shortcut was the root problem then Control+Page_Up would also be broken in the same way. gnome-terminal has this key sequence bound to switch gnome-terminal tabs. It's an easy fix, just: -- right click for a context menu, then Show Menubar -- select Edit-Keyboard Shortcuts -- remap any sequences that you need passed to terminal apps ( backspace disables a shortcut ) -- hide the menubar again happy vim tabs again!
