The way to fix this is to a) define the icon name currently used in both
of the interfaces you mention and then b) find out whether they are from
the same theme or whether the notification applet uses it's own icons.
Most likely, a link to the right names in the right place (the human
icon theme) will fix this.

 A paper cut is a minor usability annoyance that an average user would 
encounter on his/her first day of using a new installation of Ubuntu 9.10.
