After finding http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=538978 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/238497, I'd say these are the same bug. I have the same problem, except that I do have the option of creating an image, but not to copy to a CD (see attached screenshot). I have tried a complete uninstall of Brasero, followed by a fresh install, with no occurrence of change. I get exactly the same as Roland on two separate PCs, one running 32-bit and one running 64-bit Hardy. I initially installed 8.04 RC and upgraded to 8.04 from there. I have upgraded to hardy (started with last alpha) and can also confirm that brasero can not create images. Did a fresh install of the final 8.04 release, and just realised that it seems to work well now.
