Binary package hint: gnome-control-center
In the "Sound"-tab of gnome-sound-properties I have a checkbox called
"Play system sounds". One might think that this is a system-wide setting
but in fact it only deals with the below listed sounds. Other system
components like gdm or gnome-power-management will play sounds even if
unchecked.
That's why I suggest to rename the checkbox label and the label for the
sound list to something less ambigious not containing the word "system"
like "Play event sounds" or "Play notification sounds".
