I don't think Ubuntu can ship with an audio player/ripper that is missing such an useful, yet probably easy to implement, function. This bug is more serious than previously though. I tried extracting from a scratched CD on my dual core Intel Core 2 Duo running at 2.33 GHz. The extraction appeared to be frozen for twenty minutes, and the entire time, my load average hovered around 4.58!!! I couldn't even double click an icon on my Desktop to launch Gedit without having to wait OVER A MINUTE for it to appear. I would also like to see this implementation; from my Windows background, I instinctively began searching for the cancel option when I realized I wanted to extract a CD using a different format ... but too late, the extraction had already begun ...
