[Bug 227664] Re: gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile
gnome-terminal --name foo immediately shoots all gnome-terminal instances. Is this linked with this? I can't find --name in the man page of gnome-terminal, but it's in the man page of gnome: --name=NAME Program name as used by the window manager I'm running: Ubuntu 8.04.1 and gnome-terminal version 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 -- gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227664 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

You don't ask much! Anyway, I followed your recipe and managed to produce the failure and a crash report was created in /var/crash. In fact, I did this twice--I'm getting to be an expert in crashing gnome-terminal. I understood your message to require that I restart apport. That didn't work. The crash didn't produce a report. So I did a total reboot--perhaps I only need to log out to restart all the gnome stuff--and that did the trick. There is no need to use Nautilus to find the report and double-click it. (And, if you want to do that, you need to change the permissions of the report, which are 0600.) There was a notification placed in the panel and I was able to click that and, or so I was led to believe by the information in the GUI, send off the report. > I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will > automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more > efficiently. I'm attaching the crash report, since the feature to send it automatically might not actually work. Please reopen the bug report. [Bug 227664] Re: gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal with as a ".crash" file. Please follow these instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report you wish to submit. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Changed in: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227664 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 227664] Re: gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile
I want to note that the abnormal exit has happened to a gnome-terminal NOT started with gksu as well. I just haven't spent the time to find a repeatable sequence of steps not using gksu. -- gnome-terminal dies on creation of a new profile https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227664 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
