Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor
My system: Ubuntu 7.10 - the Gutsy Gibbon - released in October 2007. Using Gnome. The system monitor (SM) apparently does not show all processes. I had very high cpu utilization (100%) shown on the graph. Also the temperature shows high (80 degrees on this machine but your mileage may vary). But looking at processes in SM, there is no process that show high utilization. I start >top (another performance tool). It shows in my case that NetworkManager is using around 90% of CPU. I kill NetworkManager, the SM CPU load graph goes down to 5-10%. My conclusion: SM is not showing all processes. But to confuse people it shows total cpu load on the cpu graph. So people go crazy -- I am in treatment now. I happy. -cheers ** Affects: gnome-system-monitor (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- System monitor does not show all processes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228858 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-system-monitor in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
