Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

It's cool if Linux support for hfsplus isn't such that a mac formatted
iPod can be supported. But Rhythmbox should give a message stating
this.

What it does is in version 0.11.5-0ubuntu7 is:
1. When you plug in the iPod, Rhythmbox launches.
2. Rhythmbox shows the iPod in the left pane under devices like it should.
3. When you drag a song from the library onto the ipod Rhythmbox segfaults with
the message:

(rhythmbox:4121): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_type_instance_get_private:
assertion `instance != NULL && instance->g_class != NULL' failed
Segmentation fault

This is especially confusing if you didn't launch Rhythmbox from the
command line. In that case, the window just disappears with no
explanation.

My Ubuntu release is 8.04
