 Hi, Emilio. It's better you fill a bug in upstream bugzilla, using new

See you in the final! ;)

  * src/vinagre-connection.c,

  the connection dialog. The address must be enclosed by square braces,
  for instance: [::a:b:c:d]. This is the same syntax used by RealVNC.
  Closes Ubuntu #290394. The command line help and man page should be
  updated to reflect this, though.

 Emilio, could you update the man page? Thanks.

 Yeah, here's my attempt at it. What do you think? I'm not sure if enclosed
 is
 correctly used there.

 Patch against trunk.

Jonh, did you have a chance to look at the patch for the manpage?

Cheers,
Emilio

2009-03-14 Thread Sander Jonkers
Wow, this is fantastic: I tested IPv6 connectivity in Jaunty Alpha 6,
and it works great.

Both tested with a FQDN and with a litteral IPv6 addres [2001:...]: it
just works.

Thank you!

BTW: not related, but nice too: the Remote Desktop Viewable computer is
also announced via avahia / zeroconf / rendezvous.

[Bug 290394] Re: Vinagre can not connect to ipv6 address, only resolving hostnames

2009-03-14 Thread Sander Jonkers
PS: one remark: when making your desktop viewable, it will say something
like:

Your desktop is only reachable over the local network. Others can
access your computer using the address 192.168.1.10 , ubuntu.local.

If there's a public IPv6 address, it would be correct and useful to tell that
IPv6 address too. So something like:

Others can access your computer over the local network using the
address 192.168.1.10 , ubuntu.local, and from Internet using the IPv6
address [2001:111:222::]

I'm not sure I like the idea, but you should open a new bug, otherwise it starts
to be quite difficult to track so many things in the same report.

[Bug 290394] Re: Vinagre can not connect to ipv6 address, only resolving hostnames

2009-01-22 Thread Emilio Pozuelo Monfort
Another option would be to tell the port in a different parameter, say

$ vinagre --port=1000 127.0.0.1 (ipv4)
$ vinagre --port=1000 2001:0db8:0:0:0:0:1428:57ab (ipv6)

The port option could be -p / --port

Jonh, what do you think?
