[Bug 305333] Re: Brasero, When write all go slowly......

2012-10-24 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
luisRF, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Gutsy
reached EOL on April 18th, 2009.
Please see this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

We were wondering if this is still an issue in a supported release? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications-Accessories-Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number

Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional
upstream developers to examine the issue. Please do not test the kernel in the
mainline kernels archive directory daily folder, but the one all the way at the
bottom. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel
version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel,
please add the following tags:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For
example:
kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.7-rc1-quantal

This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next
to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please
remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

As well, please remove the tag:
needs-upstream-testing

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, please comment as to why
specifically you were unable to test it and add the following tags:
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream
kernel-unable-to-test-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER

Please let us know your results. Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 305333] Re: Brasero, When write all go slowly......

2008-12-26 Thread Phil
It is not only a brasero bug, but valid for the complete distribution:

K3b behaves exactly the same way:
while burning the system becomes much slower, even the mouse moves less
fluently. After burning everything is normal again. The burning itself is too
slow, too: 0,8x instead of 8x.
It is conspicious that the drive's cache (not the software cache) is not
completly filled. That is why I thought that DMA is possibly not activated but
this is not the case:

/dev/scd0:

 Model=HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T40N, FwRev=JQ01,
SerialNo=K0182MK4525
 Config={ Fixed Removeable DTR=5Mbs DTR10Mbs nonMagnetic }
 RawCHS=0/0/0, TrkSize=0, SectSize=0, ECCbytes=0
 BuffType=unknown, BuffSize=0kB, MaxMultSect=0
 (maybe): CurCHS=0/0/0, CurSects=0, LBA=yes, LBAsects=0
 IORDY=on/off, tPIO={min:120,w/IORDY:120}, tDMA={min:120,rec:120}
 PIO modes:  pio0 pio3 pio4
 DMA modes:  mdma0 mdma1 mdma2
 UDMA modes: udma0 udma1 *udma2
 AdvancedPM=no
 Drive conforms to: Unspecified:  ATA/ATAPI-4,5,6,7

 * signifies the current active mode

I attached the k3b report, perhaps it can help to identify the problem.

[Bug 305333] Re: Brasero, When write all go slowly......

2008-12-26 Thread Phil
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 31709 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31709

I can even confirm it for CDs!

While burning the system reacts as I wrote before. The burning itself
does not seem to be much slower at all, but at the process the burn
speed changed heavily from 0x to 60x or even more.

The worst thing I found is that the disk failed a checksum check (it was a
ubuntu disk and the build-in check from the boot menu was not successful twice
(two different burns of course and the disk was new at the first try and has no
scratches yet).
- Priority should be critical!

Bye

[Bug 305333] Re: Brasero, When write all go slowly......

2008-12-05 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read How to report bugs
effectively http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be
grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.
 We have instructions on debugging some types of problems.
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures
At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!
