This sounds like a XOrg issue, so reassigning. Please could you provide
the following information:

1. Please run sudo lspci -vvnn  lspci.log and attach the resulting file to 
this bug report.
2. After you experience this problem, please attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log 
and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old to this bug report.
3. Can you switch to a console when this freeze occurs (using CTRL+ALT+F1). It 
seems like you can, but could you just confirm this? If so, could you please 
run dmesg  dmesg.log from the console when the freeze occurs, and then 
attach the resulting file dmesg.log to this bug report.
4. If you can access a console when this freeze occurs, please try running 
top and seeing if anything is hogging the CPU.
