Thanks for the feedback. You can select the default multimedia player: System -> Preferences -> Preferred Applications It's also possible to startup an mediaplayer if you insert an audio CD. Gnome asks you what to do when you insert a audio CD. Maybe you've told gnome to remember you decision about 'do nothing'? Double clicking on a CD wav file launches Totem Movie Player 2.24.2, not Rhythmbox, and nothing happens. Sorry about the misleading initial post. In file browser on the Audio CD, if I click on Open Rhythmbox Music Player in the upper right, then RB does indeed launch. In RB, if I then click on devices, the individual wav files (tracks) display. Highlighting any of those and clicking Play does actually play the track. My expectations are that simply double clicking on the wav file would launch RB and not Totem by default. I would also expect Ubuntu to just launch the default music player after inserting a CD, just like Windows.
