Public bug reported: I have a smb network share mounted in the places menu via the connect to server wizard. If i insert a blank cd and open it and then drag files from the network share into the cd window in order to burn them I get 'Operation not supported in backend'. This message is meaningless. If i try the same thing with brassero it segfualts.
This process works fine if instead I go into home, show hidden files and then drag files from the .gvfs folder. It's worth noting that the drag and drop from a network share to the cd will work fine on a windows xp box - it copies the files to a temp directory on the local disk and then burns them. I view this as either a code bug where drag and drop burning should work or a usability issue where at the very least the error message should say something like 'unable to burn files from a network share please copy them to a local drive first' ** Affects: gvfs (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 'operation not supported in backend' when burning a cd over the network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
