I'm not sure when it got fixed, as I just added 'manually' with ssh-add for long while, but just last week I tried it on my laptop, and worked just fine, so it has indeed been fixed somewhere down the line. I bet your laptop is running i386. gnome-keyring_2.24.1-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb also fixes the issue. This is consistent on both of my Jaunty boxes. I can fix it by downgrading and break again by upgrading.
