[Bug 346331] Re: Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications
Thank you for your feeback! Based on your last comment I'm marking this bug as Invalid since it is possible to launch Nautilus on start-up. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Invalid -- Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 346331] Re: Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications
Nautilus can be set to launch form Startup Appliications using the floowing command nautilus --browser --no-desktop path/folder I'm not sure if all options are need, but it would appear that the nautilus behaviour has changed at some point. -- Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 346331] Re: Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications
The thing is that anything with Nautilus in it is removed from the autostart directory or disabled for the least. Apparently GNOME doesn't want you to open a director on start-up.
Chris, when I filed the original report, I wasn't aware that nautilus was more than a file manger. What I want is to launch the nautilus file manager at startup, just as if I'd typed nautilus in a terminal, or went Places Home Folder. An entry like this worked in 8.04, but hasn't worked since. The nautilus.desktop file is attached (actually in ~/.config/autostart). For info, when clicking on this and doing launch anyway, a nautilus window is started. ** Attachment added: nautilus.desktop http://launchpadlibrarian.net/37093897/nautilus.desktop -- Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Thanks, Sense. You reminded that I was going to add this this is still happening in 9.10.
This isn't likely to be a gnome-session issue. Could you attach the desktop file created in ~/.config/xdg/autostart when you add Nautilus to Startup Applications. Nautilus already runs at startup anyway, so what are you trying to achieve by adding it again? ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/346331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-session in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 346331] Re: Nautilus won't run from Sessions or Startup Applications
I have similar problems with other programs such as Empathy and Evolution. After adding them to the Startup Applications and restarting the computer they are not showing up in the list after startup. I know that the commands are right since I can start the application from the commandline. In this case simply $evolution OR $empathy.
