I was able to duplicate this bug in dapper

ctrl alt backspace to kill the x server

login

lock screen does nothing

Description:
Hi,

If I kill X with crtl-alt-backspace, I cannot lock the screen when I
login again.

I get gnome-screensaver-Message: Screensaver is not running! in
.xsession-errors
