and ... I am having a very similar problem: 1) I receive an error message before the login window pops up saying that the file /usr/share/gdm/themes/Human/bottom_bar.svg cannot be opened due to the file type being unrecognized and 2) When I go to the top menu and select Places Computer, I get an error message that says `Couldn't display computer:. Nautilus cannot handle computer: locations' . 3) All of the default themes in Appearance are gone. The only one remaining is Neutronium Gilouche, which I had installed separately before the problem occurred. ** Changed in: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Confirmed -- Failed to load module canberra-gtk-module: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369123 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 369123] Re: Failed to load module canberra-gtk-module: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/modules/libcanberra-gtk-module.so
this is a gtk+2.0 issue. Module handling for bi-arch case is a bit inconsistent. I have some ideas how to fix it.
