Since there has been no response in over 4 months I am going to close this bug as invalid. If you can still reproduce this bug and are using a newer ubuntu version please use ubuntu-bug nautilus. Thanks for your report. It sounds like you are talking about using nautilus, the default file manager? If so, this is a bug in nautilus and I will assign the package. For future reference, nautilus (and many other applications) has a Report a problem entry right in the Help menu which will take care of part of bug reporting for you including all the useful information. you are right. Nautilus is the application that has this problem. And thanks for the additional information too. Also, I am very eager to fix that bug on my own. What resources[well defined] do I have as a C[C++} programmer to do that? And what stuff do I have to learn? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated too. Thanks a lot!
