2009-08-26 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue
for you? May you please try the same with Karmic? Thanks in advance.

[Bug 37861] Re: ipod reformated (to partition) cause that gtkpod open twice

2007-01-14 Thread Martin Pitt
Ah, thanks for the lshal outputs. Indeed the capability needs to be
attached to the device, not the particular partition (/dev/sdd2), thus
my little volume.block check trick does not work. Also, the hal output
actually looks correct, we need to fix this in gnome-volume-manager
instead.

[Bug 37861] Re: ipod reformated (to partition) cause that gtkpod open twice

2007-01-10 Thread Roshan Shariff
The updated FDI file doesn't seem to help. Nautilus now launches for
both partitions (rhythmbox doesn't launch), and my ipod (mini 2G) is
mounted at /media/usbdisk/ and /media/usbdisk-1/ instead of
/media/ipod{,1}/.

I'm attaching the output of lshal with the new FDI file.

Also, can you please download this attachment, do

  sudo cp 10-usb-music-players.fdi
/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/10freedesktop

then unplug/replug the iPod and check whether it behaves any better?

[Bug 37861] Re: ipod reformated (to partition) cause that gtkpod open twice

2007-01-10 Thread Martin Pitt
Indeed it should be pretty simple to fix. Can you please do

  lshal > hal.txt

with the iPod plugged in and mounted and attach hal.txt here?

[Bug 37861] Re: ipod reformated (to partition) cause that gtkpod open twice

2006-09-20 Thread Roshan Shariff
I can confirm this bug. The iPod ships with two partitions, sda1
(firmware) and sda2 (vfat, possibly hfs+). I resized sda2 and added
another ext2 partition sda3 for iPodLinux. HAL treats both sda2 and sda3
as iPod devices, when in fact it should treat sda3 as a normal USB drive
(i.e. g-v-m should start Nautilus, not Rhythmbox for it.)

The fix seems to be simple -- partitions other than the second on an
iPod should not be treated as belonging to a music player. The Apple
firmware itself totally ignores all other partitions.
