[Bug 385331] Re: Password for SSH keys aren't stored in keyring
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 183514 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/183514 I observed that if you change the id_*sa.pub file in your .ssh directory to something else (eg. mykeypublic.pub) then he will not lauch the gnome keyring popup for unlocking the private key. If you rename your public key to the original (eg. id_dsa.pub) then again the gnome-keyring popup is launced again. So your public key and private key should concur in both file name and content. to me this bug is more a duplicate of: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-keyring/+bug/375341 -- Password for SSH keys aren't stored in keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I would like to confirm this bug on my installation of Ubuntu 9.04, gnome-keyright version 2.26.1-0ubuntu1 -- Password for SSH keys aren't stored in keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 385331] Re: Password for SSH keys aren't stored in keyring
Sorry for the late answer, been busy at work. * Is it reproducible? Yes, it's reproducible. * Steps to reproduce: 1. Copy an existing private ssh key to the folder ~/.ssh/id_rsa (or create a new ssh key and add that key to the server) 2. Try to make a connection to the ssh server which the key unlocks 3. Now you will get asked for a password in the terminal, not by the gnome keyring, and the password won't be stored for future use I reproduced the bug both by creating a new key, and by copying an older key. -- Password for SSH keys aren't stored in keyring https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385331 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
