What you see is a bug in growisofs.. In order to blank media, I recommend to use cdrecord: ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/ http://cdrecord.berlios.de/ Note that you need to use the original software if you like to get DVD support. Still having a lot of issues burning and blanking media with the PLEXTOR DVDR PX-755A Sata Optical Drive. Testing on K3B which unmounts the disk and does not blank it. Instead, it reports success and says that you do not need to blank the disk, you simply can overwrite it. At reinsertion, DVD-RW still has all files on it.
