Using Xubuntu 10.04 and totem 2.30.2-0ubuntu1 installed via synaptic the subtitles for the file I was observing this issue on before play just fine. The new version of the package in Lucid seems to have fixed the issue. I don't currently have a Maverick install, so I can't verify there... The file is a 1080p movie, 11 gigs in size. I wouldn't be able to attach it here?
