[Bug 391093] Re: Creating a file on a mounted samba share creates thousands (if not millions) of duplicate files.

2009-06-24 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Not confirming but the issue is an upstream one and it would be nice if
somebody having it could send the bug the to the people writting the
software (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME)

[Bug 391093] Re: Creating a file on a mounted samba share creates thousands (if not millions) of duplicate files.

2009-06-24 Thread Stormking
It's enabled, by default. To disable it, you can:

- set 'unix extensions = no' in smb.conf on the server

or

- add 'nounix' to the mount options on the client

or

- set '/proc/fs/cifs/LinuxExtensionsEnabled' to '0' on the client.

could you give the exact smb.conf line to use to enable this unix
option?

[Bug 391093] Re: Creating a file on a mounted samba share creates thousands (if not millions) of duplicate files.

2009-06-23 Thread Stormking
It's a simple samba share physically located on my old 300MHz desktop
computer that I now use as a file server. The share is mounted on my
laptop via fstab using cifs. Both machines are running Ubuntu 9.04.
Samba (on the server) is 3.3.2.

Triggering the bug is done by mounting the share with Unix Extensions
enabled (default, if both machines are running linux) and then trying to
move something to the trash by selecting its icons and hitting
in nautilus, executing 'gvfs-trash filename' in the shell or by trying
to create a new empty file using nautilus' context menu.

Thank you for your bug report, could you describe what server option you change
exactly to trigger the bug?
Could you give an example of configuration triggering the issue?
