[Bug 399466] Re: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough
This still happens on Ubuntu 16.04. The burning itself is fast, takes a couple minutes, but the image checksum takes about 20 minutes. It is not clear what this does, why it happens and why it's so slow. I canceled it when it was about 70% done and it said "Success 18.4 EB" (I only wrote a 3.3 GB ISO). This bug should be easily reproducible with any ISO. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399466 Title: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/399466/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Message is still the same in xubuntu 14.04.2 using brasero. It is misleading. I cancelled the process and the disc came out just as fine. ** Attachment added: "Screenshot of the message (in spanish)" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/399466/+attachment/4361407/+files/Screenshot%20-%20300315%20-%2019%3A15%3A02.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399466 Title: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/399466/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 399466] Re: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough
I was burning a CD on Ubuntu 10.10 and I got the "creating image checksum" - after a while I chose Cancel and received a message "Image successfully burned to CD" and the drive opened. Suggest message "CD/DVD burned. Now verifying data. Verification is not not mandatory. You can cancel the verification by pressing Cancel" -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399466 Title: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 399466] Re: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough
I am using the latest version on Ubuntu 10.10 and can confirm the message is still the same. I have just burned an image to DVD and it's now "creating image checksum". Is this even mandatory? I agree with David, the message should say something like ""Verifying CD/DVD". I had to Google "creating image checksum" to find out what it is exactly (end users shouldn't have to do that) which lead me to this report. -- "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399466 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 399466] Re: "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough
I also noticed that "Creating image checksum" is printed twice. Once before the burn and then after. I guess first it is "Calculating checksum of the image for later verifying" and then it is "Reading recorded disc and calculating its checksum to verifiy against image checksum. ** Changed in: brasero (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => New -- "Creating image checksum" message not informative anough https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/399466 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

"Verifying CD/DVD" seems an obvious choice. Or maybe "Verifying recorded data correctness".
