[Bug 41772] Re: MIME misdetection makes file unopenable

2007-05-05 Thread Haz
I had similar, but not identical symptoms after a recent upgrade of Dapper
6.06LTS to Edgy 6.10.
Nautilus would not show me any icon images as an ordinary user, only as root. I
could not open them either. Nor could I see them in the icon browser (eg: via
launcher properties).
I also had similar MIME related problems with HTML, XML, and .tar.gz files as
reported in bug 19101 - the fix I detailed there cured all these problems for
me.

 planner (0.14.2-1ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/control:
 - updated Ubuntu maintainer
   * debian/patches/01_mimetype_subclass_xml.patch:
 - define the mimetype as an xml subclass so nautilus can open them again
   (Ubuntu: #41772)

[Bug 41772] Re: MIME misdetection makes file unopenable

2006-11-28 Thread Martin-Éric Racine
Debian package 0.14.2-1 fixes this.

planner (0.14.2-1) unstable; urgency=low

 * New upstream release:
   - GNOME bug #353213: added #ifdefs to build against libgda 1 or 2.
 - GNOME bug #353232: fix Nautilus behavior on a Planner file.
 - GNOME bug #358415: fix crash in Gantt view.
 - GNOME bug #368186: paint guide lines behind project start date.
 - Added -Wno-return-type for compiling with database support.
 - Added Arabic localisation.
   * Dropping 0.14.1-0ubuntu1 patches (replaced by upstream #ifdefs).

Awaiting today's dinstall run to request a sync.

2006-11-18 Thread Lars Rune Nøstdal
This also happens with misnamed video-files and isn't something a
normal user would understand or be able to fix. Maybe there should be
some options:

* Ignore and view file with `app-name'
* Always ignore and view with `app-name'

The mimetype definitions are done by shared-mime-info, reassigning.

Simon, that GNOME bug number is not correct (like a dropped digit), do you
still have the upstream equivalent you had for it?

That upload fixes the issue:

 planner (0.13-4ubuntu2) dapper; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/patches/01_mimetyme_is_subclass_of_xml.patch:
 - define the mimetype as a subclass of xml so nautilus open it correctly

 - use simple-patchsys.mk
