@Roti: It's hard to tell from that debug output which mp3 decoder it's trying to use. Ugh, ran into this problem on Dapper. Rhythmbox plays back certain Apple Lossless files but not others (none are protected). Playing directly off iPod, all tag info shows up correctly in properties. Fails using ALSA, ESD, and OSS. Machine has an Audigy 2 internal card (from Dell). Maybe that's the culprit? I can provide a file offline (tell me how and where) because they all are copyrighted mp3s. I think the files that I cannot play are all files that I encoded myself from CDs using banshee and/or goobox. Happens here as well. Some mp3 files that were playing correctly now create "Internal Dataflow Error" when played through Banshee or Totem-gstreamer. This started last week when I upgraded to the latest dapper packages. I noticed gstreamer packages were upgraded during that process. This happens only for some mp3 files, not all of them. I do not have USB Audigy, and ALSA is selected as default output in gstreamer-properties. When played through gst-launch, I get: Setting pipeline to PAUSED ... Pipeline is PREROLLING ... Okay, I've managed to get my SB Audigy 2 NX working again, which means that the MP3s that worked on my onboard sound card now again refuse to play. After installing your package, the files still refuse to play, just as before. Could it be an issue with the drivers for the sound card? Actually, the oddest thing happened recently. I tried the MP3s on my onboard sound card (SIS something or other) and they worked fine. (I used to be playing them on my USB Audigy 2 NX). Now, though, I can't seem to re-enable the Audigy as a sound playback device. Weird. I just imported the podcast into Rhythmbox. I dunno, maybe it's just a podcast issue with that one, but I've got a copy of a few Hendrix songs that have the same symptoms as I've said. I suppose I could e-mail them to you privately if you owned a copy of The Ultimate Experience.
