[Bug 446104] Re: baobab scans AFS volumes by default

2010-03-02 Thread Niklas Herder
@Fabio: do you see the /afs mount in Edit-Preferences? As i said on
2009-10-08, I can't, and I'm using the default install for Karmic.

I'll try to send a report upstream.

2010-03-02 Thread Fabio Marzocca
@Herder - to detect mount points baobab uses libgtop. If libgtop
doesn't report an AFS mount, maybe we should move this bug on that
package.

Yes, thats sound reasonable.
Should I do that right away, or do we need some further investigation by
someone?

[Bug 446104] Re: baobab scans AFS volumes by default

2010-02-03 Thread Chelmite
This may be partially an upstream issue (whatever that means), but it's
partially a baobab usability issue.

There is no way to specify that certain directories, i.e., mount points,
should be ignored.

It is normal for me to have my company's servers mounted. It's (a) slow
(b) way too much network traffic, and (c) irrelevant, as I can't and
don't need to muck with the directories on the server.

The problem is that it takes over an hour to scan the nfs-mounted
drives.

The easy workaround is for me to specify in baobab that I don't want to
look in /proc, /mnt, /media, or other system directories that I won't
and shouldn't alter.

As Sebastien already pointed out: This needs to be sent upstream by
someone having the issue. Please read the instructions at [1] on how to
do that. Thanks.

Baobab scans whatever partition is checked into Edit-Preferences
window. You can uncheck the partitions you don't want to scan.

No, I can't. AFS is mounted on /afs, but when i go to preferences, I can
only check/uncheck the mounted physical volumes.
I want to be able to scan my partition, but when Scan is enabled for /,
baobab also scans /afs, which it shouldn't do.
