Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

The default (and only) UI to control desktop effects mistakenly wipes
out compiz profiles that have been customized.

Because the only way to manipulate the on/off state is through the
appearance tool, the tool should simply turn compiz on or off.

Detail levels should be chosen based on a three choice radio group:

o Simple
o Fancy
o Previous/Custom

Then turning compiz on and off would be further clarified. Right now
the dialog is forcing not just the state of compiz, but also the
configuration, which is misleading.
