Thank you taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, processing the crash report to get detailed information for the developers failed as the retracer did not generate a useful symbolic stack trace. Please try to obtain a backtrace manually following the instructions at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and upload the backtrace (as an attachment) to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem. I have had this problem at least since 9.04, probably 8.10 too (and made a clean install somewhere along the way I think). I really do think there should be a better way to do this than using the command line! I'd suggest some extension to the system manager or separate program (installable by apt-get and Synaptic). I'm guessing such a thing doesn't exist (or you'd told me), so: Can I simply do *all* of the steps in the section https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash#Hardy%208.04%20and%20Newer and then run the script https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace#Summary%20in%20script%20form ?
