This bug is not related to the invest applet in particular, but to the compiz package. This problem has been fixed there. I found an issue with the window hint in the investment list window. For an unknown reason when using the WINDOW_TYPE_HINT_DOCK hint the window manager leaves a frame shadow after the investment list window is closed.
