[Bug 49817] Re: taskbar blinks after restoring session
I thought I wrote an answer. sorry for this mistake (maybe I sent it via mail). Yes, the problem still exist. I have found something else out: restored gnome-terminal windows didn't blink, after I logged in. But when I switch the workspace they start to blink. No, I didn't use any fancy Compiz/xgl stuff. Just good old 2d metacity. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected => Unconfirmed -- taskbar blinks after restoring session https://launchpad.net/bugs/49817 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Marking as "Rejected" - bug has been in "Needs info" for almost four months with no additional feedback. Toyed with "Fix released" based on various comments, decided "Rejected" better matched workflow. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- taskbar blinks after restoring session https://launchpad.net/bugs/49817 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Sorry, you are right. dapper-updates was not in my sources.list. But the problem still exist. It didn't appear Sorry, you are right. dapper-updates was not in my sources.list. But the problem still exist. It didn't appear when you click on epiphany, before the websites from the restored windows are reloaded. So, if you want try out this, I suggest these following steps: 1. Open different Epiphany windows with remote URLs 2. Open a few gnome-terminal windows 3. Put them on different workspaces/virtual desktops 4. Make sure your session will be saved, when you logout from GNOME 5. Logout 6. Login, but do not react (don't use mouse and keyboard) until everything is restored and your GNOME is completely loaded Does any taskbar item blink? I guess we have here two cool features: - restore session - got users attention with blinking taskbar items on new windows or new content in existing windows (e.g. a website is loaded epiphany) But the combination of this features is annoying. Maybe it's not easy to fix, even though it is a "small" problem. gnome-session should report the apps, that they are restored, so they didn't blink or something.. -- taskbar blinks after restoring session https://launchpad.net/bugs/49817 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 49817] Re: taskbar blinks after restoring session
When I log out from the gnome desktop my session will be saved. When I log in to gnome later again all windows of supported apps will be reopened. e.g. browser windows, IM-app, gnome-terminal windows, abiword (unfortunetaly just with a new file instead of the document when I logged out) Since their is cairo support there is a new feature in the taskbar (fensterliste in german, the panel item, where the opened windows are shown). It blinks when a new window opened and you don't have the focus on the new window. it's some kind of information: "Hey User, here is a new window, please pay attantion" This feature is useless, when I log in to gnome and my saved session is restored. I have a bunch of "new" windows and they all want the attantion: they blink. I couldn't describe the term "blink" better, but It changes (fades) the background-colorof the item from bright to dark and back to bright. it is an animation and really annoying after a while. but this is the intention of the animation, because you should pay attention to the new window... I hope this is enough information. it isn't nice to just reject the bug instead of asking for more information. don't hesitate to ask me, if you need more information. ** Changed in: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected => Unconfirmed -- taskbar blinks after restoring session https://launchpad.net/bugs/49817 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
